Team Captains
Jason Fluegge - Co-Captain
I heard about Cycle for the Cause in 2017 from a good friend about the ride and the impact The Center had on him and his partner. I thought it sounded like a fun challenge and not only a good cause, but one that quickly felt personal. After being recruited for Team Eagle my first year, I realized I could lend my events and fundraising background to support the team. In 2019, I stepped up as a captain at Rick’s request. I’m looking forward to the 2023 ride with a full team and ride again this year!
Chris Somma - Co-Captain
Living in both Provincetown and New Hampshire, many New Yorkers come to visit here, and I love knowing that I can direct folks in need to The Center and that they provide support and life-saving treatments to those affected by HIV/AIDS. Before the pandemic, I was in NYC at least once a month. I love this city and the people in it. I’ve made lifelong friends and love being on this team and participating in this ride. Team Eagle is the heart of the community, and I am proud to be part of it.
Thom Kam - Co-Captain
I’ve participated in 19 AIDS Rides across 6 states starting with the first Boston to NYC ride in 1995 (with 3000+ other riders). I’m a founding member of Team Eagle and have a personal connection with and love for The Center: its services saved my life during the AIDS crisis. 2023 will be the year I humbly aim to ride for the 15th time.
Rick Weber - Co-Captain and Founder
This will be my 20th year participating in the NE AIDS Ride. The Center has been there for our community since the very beginning. The Center was there for me when I needed them the most. Seeing all the people that have signed up with Team Eagle really means a lot to me and lets me know that the next generation is here and ready to continue the fight for our community.
